James and I made our way down to the Aquatic Park to figure our where package pick-up would be, and for me to have a chance to swim. There were lots of swimmers in the water, and nobody even batted an eye when I stripped down to my bathing suit and wriggled myself into my wet suit. Such a change from home where everyone passing by stops to stare at us :) HA! The water was beautiful. I wanted to swim all day, but limited myself to only one loop of the swim area. Twice I felt something strange fluttering on my leg, but talked myself out of any possibility that it was a seal saying 'hello'.
Once back on shore and out of my suit, something dog-like caught my eye swimming next to another swimmer in the water. I thought 'WOW! Someone has their dog swimming with them". Then logic took over, and I realized that it was a seal. I watched as it paced the swimmer then dove under. Immediately, the swimmer turned around and kicked HARD.....it was then I KNEW FOR SURE that this was what had happened to me too. IT HAD BEEN A SEAL!
Today, we will ferry over to Alcatraz for our tour. I'm so excited for it all! This will give me opportunity as well to check my sighting for tomorrow's race.
The adventure continues!
