The biggest excitement for me, has been swimming in my NEW NINETEEN ROGUE WETSUIT. What an amazingly well crafted piece of awesome it is! Seriously. After swimming my Nineteen Frequency into a mass of torn-up, dragged-out neoprene after almost 5 years of use, it's been heavenly to slip into some fresh new 'skin'. BLISS! A big thank-you to Nineteen Wetsuits for their outstanding customer service! If you are new (or not) to open water swimming and looking to get into a wetsuit, I HIGHLY recommend checking them out! http://www.nineteenwetsuits.com/
After long winter months of pool swimming (aka lane combat swimming) it's pretty great to be back once again, in the ocean. As usual we took our first dip the first weekend of May, and have been in as much as possible since. Water temps have been all over the map though this year. Our warmest swims were early May, and our coldest swims have been late in June. Also, the currents have been pretty fierce this month, making for some pretty challenging, frustrating and tiring swims (in one direction at least), but BOY, does it ever make you STRONG. Every year we forget how HARD ocean swimming really is, and every year, by the end of our season in November, we are thankful of how EASY pool swimming is. HA!
Looking forward to our first open water event in just a few short weeks! It's hard to believe that we are already so close to race day! To follow will be a little clip of our first swim this year....so far I haven't been able to capture the seal(s) that pace us. Stay tuned!
