I was not a very athletic person when I started. I was the type of person who had gone though numerous attempts at working out. Everything from gym memberships, fitness classes, commuting by bike, and attempts to start jogging on my own. I would always be motivated for the first two to three weeks but then it would gradually fade and within two to three months I would give up. When I turned 30 in January 2007 I decided to give it one more chance and that is when I met Kim. Her classes have kept me motivated and I have been faithful to fitness ever since. My decision to join Kim's classes has been a life-changing event and I encourage anyone with the desire to get fit but who has not found the right avenue to join us.
I’ve always believed that fitness is important for a healthy, happy lifestyle. Not only does it help one to become physically fit and healthy, but it can also increase one’s confidence and self discipline and it is been known to improve social and emotional wellness. With this in mind, I have tried to be active my whole life. I’ve tried everything from individual and team sports to extreme sports, yet nothing stimulated me enough to continue for an extended period of time. For me, No dedication = No results. I even completed my bachelors in Human Kinetics (physical education) hoping to find my niche or to help establish some self motivation, but still I found exercise to be more of a ‘chore’ than an enjoyable activity. Fortunately, I persisted in trying out new activities and joined Kim’s exercise classes in March 2007. The classes are fantastic, covering everything from core strength, cardio, muscle toning, endurance, strength training and flexibility. It’s exercise, but it’s fun. There is so much support from all the participants, but especially from Kim. Kim is very caring and compassionate and she brings a tremendous amount of enthusiasm, energy and knowledge to each and every class. She is extremely motivational. She is always genuinely interested in our achievements and encourages and pushes us to achieve our personal best. Kim makes sure that throughout each workout, we are constantly feeling challenged but not overwhelmed. Each session, we achieve a new milestone and complete tasks I never thought possible. The feeling of completing these exercises provides such an intrinsic reward. Kim has helped me to go well beyond any expectations I had for myself. I first joined her exercise classes with the intent of losing weight-which I have, but now my focus has changed to exercise for health and enjoyment, to be strong and to be proud of my accomplishments. Since meeting Kim two years ago, she has supported me in becoming an athlete, something I never thought I could be. She literally ran beside me on my first long 10km run, The Vancouver Sun Run and has since supported and encouraged me to sign up for my first triathlon and half marathon. Before meeting Kim, I would never have imagined partaking in such events. I can’t thank her enough. So, for whatever reason you are looking to exercise, Kim will support you and make exercise an enjoyable experience. I started coming to Kim’s classes 9 months ago and was very impressed immediately by the inches I lost. I've continued to go not just for weight loss but also because Kim keeps it fun and new every week!
I joined Kim’s class in the spring of 2008 with the goal of losing some unwanted pounds. I was thrilled to not only lose major inches the first couple of months, but to also improve my endurance drastically. I never expected to enjoy going to an exercise class so much, but Kim makes it fun and challenging. She is always able to strike a balance between pushing us to our personal best without pushing us too far.
I’ve always been a strong believer in living a healthy active life-style however, found it hard to get into a program that I enjoyed. I was bored with always going to the gym and doing the same routine over and over again. I tried so many different classes but nothing motivated me.I became a part of Kim’s classes back in June 2007, and no other class has motivated me more. Each class is structured differently targeting a different muscle group for each workout. From circuit days, to ball days and even games days, Kim knows how to motivate her class, and keeps me coming back for more. Kim knows how to incorporate the right balance of cardio and strength training into every workout, challenging us yet at the same time making each workout fun and enjoyable. Being part of her class has made me realize that I can reach any goal and go beyond my expectations of what I think I am able to accomplish. Since being part of Kim's class I have completed two distance runs. The Vancouver Sun Run in 2007 (10km) and the Coho Festival Run in 2008 (14km), both distances I would never have thought possible beforehand! For me, Kim fit the profile of what I was looking for in an instructor and as a result, I have been able to go beyond my fitness dreams! I am proud to be part of Thrive Total Fitness and I look forward to continuing to achieve my fitness goals!
I was in a slump and needed something to kick start my fitness routine. Thrive Total Fitness offered an environment that was inclusive and encouraging. Kim pushed me farther than I ever would have if left to my own devices, and I began to feel stronger with every class - and more importantly, I saw amazing results! I'll definitely be going back.
